Uses: Including or causing vomiting by local ac- tion on the nerves of the stomach and mucus membrane.
Three types of emetics:
central: Acts through the vomiting center of the brain (e.g., chamomile)
local: Locally irritates the nerves of the gastric mucus membrane (e.g., mustard, salt water) general: Acts through the blood on the vomiting center (these are partly local emetics)
